Well, the best thing of any software is that it is it is the
best example of an evolutionary nature of it and how it evolves into an
ecosystem… (The biology speak is because it was one of my favorite subjects in
college)… Well, for those of us who have used Microsoft Excel (that’s a default
assumed answer for anyone in Hyperion), what I really like about Excel is that
you can customize it as much as you want, the limit being only your
imagination… So there I was the other day trying to get an alias for a member
using the HsDescription function in SmartView after connecting to a PBCS
instance as shown in the below snapshot…
Now, the NULL value that is being returned by PBCS stumped
me since I checked the Oracle support and found that this issue is fixed…
But, turns out that it is an issue with SmartView connecting
to Oracle PBCS which gives NULL value if you use the HsDescription as shown in
their response..
